It’s been 10 years.

Listen, bestie… we’ve been together for over 10 years! Through all the ups and downs of our relationship, it’s safe to say our spicy moments have only gotten better. We love to test and try different ways to keep the spark alive, and the most recent one? Smut.

But what is smut?

According to Fanlore.org, “Smut is a term for fanworks, such as fanfic or podfic, that contain an overwhelming majority of explicit sex scenes or are, in themselves, one explicitly detailed sex scene.”

So, here are 5 ways we keep our relationship hot, spicy, and fiery using smut!

1. Do a couple’s smut book club

Find a book you both might enjoy. Whether that is rugby players getting it on in the locker room or a princess stuck in a tower waiting to be rescued by a handsome, muscular knight. There are smut books for every single fantasy you might think of.

It’s extremely fun to read it at the same time as your partner. You’ll catch their little giggles and smiles and know exactly what part of the book they’re at.

As you read it together, you can discuss what you liked about the book, what you thought was hot, and what you want to recreate. Which brings us to the next point.

2. Recreate some of the smut scenes

Reading is fun, but actually getting to it is way more fun! You can go all in and even roleplay the scenes. Be creative. If you need outfits or props, thank God for online shopping! Treat your sex life as an investment

3. Write your own smut scenes

Now that you are both warmed up, know the terms and lingo, and know what themes you’re interested in, try to create your own scenes. Let your creativity soar as you write out all the things you imagine doing with your partner. This exercise will not only help keep the spark going, but it will also let you get to know each other in a deeper way. We are currently in the process of writing our second novel, and we can 100% confirm that writing smut scenes will get you in the mood. Letting it all out will help both of you get it all in, if you know what I mean.

4. Make a spicy bucket-list

You might not be able to recreate all of the wildest scenes you read or write immediately, but you can definitely add them to the list. Create a joint list with all of your goals, desires, and wishes. With every one that you cross out, add another. Keep the fun coming so you can keep…

“We listen, and we don’t judge” has never been truer. Keep the communication open as you explore each other’s minds. Being in a relationship should feel like having a safe space where you can talk about anything. This way, you’re both sure of what you’re comfortable with and what you’re interested in.
